What do you think of the title of this piece? I believe it is thought provoking because once you discover the factors which drive you, your purpose starts to take shape. According to Rick Warren, things like the past, fear, materialism, or approval does not lend itself to a purpose that brings a piece of mind.
Purposeful living gives your actions meaning and hope to cope. Another benefit is the development of a laser-like focus that really simplifies your life. Now, it is easier for us to determine if an activity or action is essential or not. This resonated with me because cramming alot of unrelated random things in my life caused stress and fatigue. Unnecesary distractions take away from that piece of mind. My major takeaway: DO LESS and ONLY WHAT MATTERS MOST.
Recognizing that my strengths are no accident, I need to use them to support what matters. I am pretty good at organization. However, I must question if my time-management skills mean my time is distributed appropriately. I know my relationships with my family and friends make me feel warm and fuzzy; however, I do not feel I have made enough “deposits” in those “accounts”.
I know that I want to feel financially secure but pursuing a job for the money is not rewarding to me. I want the organization I work for to be morally responsible and culturally sensitive. I realize the necessity of having a work-life balance. Putting in long hours and all of my energy into a position is not my purpose. I want to be known as a caring person who supports her community so my focused actions should reflect this.
